Seriously consider applying durable, plastic car seat covers for each vehicle serviced at your shop. The service technician, shop owner, and customer will all have greater peace of mind with a protected seat.
When evaluating a disposable seat cover, consider the following:
Size, Coverage, Compatibility. Make sure that your seat cover of choice offers a generous coverage area. Seats come in all shapes and sizes, and a larger cover will provide more options. Consider whether the cover will sufficiently protect the various bucket, bench, and split-bench seats on the market today.
Stability. Once applied, does the seat cover stay in place, or does it slide with the technician, exposing the seat? Look for a plastic cover that clings to the seat, possibly with a 2-ply double layer construction that both clings to the seat and allows the technician to easily slide across.
Durable and Strong. To be of any value, the cover must be durable enough to withstand normal entry and exit of the car without tearing or puncturing. If the environment has an increased risk of puncture or exposure caustic chemicals, one may wish to evaluate a heavy-duty thickness.
Ease of Installation. The packaging and dispensing of the cover can also be a factor. If you have a wall-mounted rack or floor stand, then product packaged in rolls would be the obvious choice. Otherwise, consider covers packaged in self-dispensing boxes for convenience.
Overall effectiveness is measured by the ability of the cover to protect the seat. In order for a cover to score high marks, it has to cover a large area, stay in place without slipping or bunching, be resistant to tears and punctures, and be easy to work with.
