What is the best glove? As with everything, it depends. Different materials resist different chemicals more effectively than others. When considering a glove for protection while painting cars, choose a material that will best protect against the solvents being used, because the solvents are typically the chemicals that pass through the gloves and into the skin the fastest.

Nitrile Gloves offer good protection from many chemicals used in automotive painting at a reasonable cost, however one should note that nitrile gloves do not hold up well against methyl ethyl ketone (MEK), nitrobenzene, benzene, toluene, styrene, or THF.
Further, no glove will hold up indefinately. Gloves should be changed more often with higher exposure to solvents and chemicals, and should be changed immediately if they show signs of wear, tears, punctures, or pinholes.
